Last month I we to KL tower for the SPCA World Animal Day and it was a real memorable ones.

My furkid couldn't join me coz she has a growth on her lips area and the event on that day will screen through your furkid before they could enter. If they find that your furkid is unhealthy, then the furkid will not be allowed to go in.

Let's not talk bout that event first, coz I have something which catches your attention more. The main focus for me was a room with a projector, projecting a movie called EARTHLING.

Earthlings is a 2003 multi-award winning documentary written, produced and directed by Shaun Monson and co-produced by Persia White. The film was narrated by Hollywood actor and animal rights activist Joaquin Phoenix. Earthlings also features an original score by musician and activist Moby.

Have you even thought of dogs are used for beer testing? Did you know that there's an elephant which used for circus have ran out of the circus tent and have injured some people. But, why did the elephant acted this way? And what's the ending of the elephant? Find out in this movie. U'll be shocked!

I think the worse part is the Clothing and Experimentation section. I didn't watch that part, my boyfriend advised me to leave the room coz he knows that I couldn't accept that fact, it's just too cruel. He told me how they took off a fox's skin off it's body, skinning it alive. The cruel part experimentation section is using the monkeys to test the helmet. They make the monkey wear the helmet and hit towards the wall to see how much can the helmet take the impact. Imagine u're the monkey...

If some people argue that in earlier times of human kind, we hunt animals for food with spears, isn't that almost the same? YES, PERHAPS, MAYBE. But think again, were human that demanding that time? Were human have such high expectations to have leather shoes and bags? Were our population that big?

Sometimes, we blamed and we killed the animals which have attacked humankind. But, have you thought that we are expanding fast into their forest and land of their territory which they called home and built with our buildings, sky scrappers. Their land are getting smaller, the food is getting less, and we're slowly pushing them towards extinction.

I would strongly recommend you to watch this, I've only included certain parts of the movies taken from youtube. It touches lotsa points and how we human treated them for our needs. I felt disgusted by our human ways of getting our needs. If you need to kill it, kill it fast, instead of killing it slowly and torturing it.

Another Inhumane Act Happened in MALAYSIA

READ THIS. Dog catchers acted cruelly, alleges rescuer

I WAS proud that I've been born in such a "strategic" geographical location which is Malaysia, with no winter coldness, super hot sun, storm, tornado, volcano, and extreme weathers to fear about. BUT, I'm deeply ASHAMED with such cruel act in Malaysia.

These are a few inhumane acts of SOME people in Malaysia which you MUST know of happened not too long ago too.

I was and STILL very outraged by such brainless act of humans. Any healthy human being or at least a 5 years old kid will know that suct brutality. I strongly condemn such heinous act. how many times does such cruelty happen till the government totally put a stop to it. Or at least train their personnel to put themselves at other's shoe. Or maybe these people need to attend more training such as role-play. Perhaps they should beat themself or their beloved children then squeeze through the narrow railings of the gate, see would they feel about it.

There is no justification of such inhumane act. Besides, this dog wears a collar chain. It might wander out and doesn't know how to get home. So, perhaps the role-play i mention above should change, these personnel should look at their beloved being beated up, and force through the narrow railings of gate, then they will know that such act is wrong. If such act to human is wrong, why dun they think that such act to animal is wrong too? Is it because we human think we are better than them so we can act such way?

I really think that they should be fired and punished for such act, and never ever work with any jobs with any possibility to deal with animals again. Who knows what will they do next. There should be a lesson for them and others to learn.

I also suggest that perhaps schools can start implmenting animal friendly activity or program as an extra-curricular to bring awareness, and teach school children what's love and care for animals. Many parents have given the wrong impression to their child that animals are dirty, dogs will bite them and so on. Parents play a big-role on upbringing their child. If the child have the correct impression, they too will not act so violently and when they grow up, they'll teach their children the same and goes on to next generation.

Remember this before your next action. What comes around goes around.

Today - World Animal Day at KL Tower Terrace

This should be quite a huge event as this is the first time World Animal Day being celebrated at KL Tower.

Wow...Can you imagine that? Dogs at KL Tower. But of coz, there's some restriction areas, not that the dog can go everywhere in KL Tower. But however, I really hope 1 fine day, any shopping complex would agree with allowing animals into shopping complex.

My sis went to France recently and told me that the dogs there are allowed into railway station, dogs will also follow their owner without a leash. OMG! I really envy that. Perhaps I should migrate to countries like this and live happily every there.

Opps.. A bit off topic. Back to the topic now. There will be some games and so on of coz.

I remember it was drizzling on the Dogathon Day at UPM. However, it doesn't stop us dog lover from going to have loads of fun there.

We queued-up to register both ourself and our dog for games and also we received goodie bag~

Wow..Suki is just like a star. She's being surrounded.

Suki won 2nd prize for the Dog Maze game, finishing at 19 seconds. Pretty fast huh? So proud of her =) as many dogs were kinda lost in the maze.

We played Simon Says too, but didn't win any prize. We lost when the host says:"Alien says ASTRODOGS wag their tails." I've never teach Suki any command to wag ehr tail when asked to.

Amber won the 1st prize for Best Dress. Totally suit the theme of this year's Dogathon. Very creative.

There's also horse riding, but of coz, u gotta pay to ride it.

We left late as we waited for the prize giving ceremony, not to forget, we even got the lucky draw =) Seems like it was our day.

Suki was so tired, not long after we left, she falls asleep like a princess.

I'm deeply considering and thinking which event should I go. I love dogs, I would like my furkid to socialize, but I would also like to participate in helping the environmentals, but I can't split myself into half. =( . I'm not too sure if I could make it to attend both, attend the Canon Goes Green, then attend MRD in time since MRD events is till afternoon. Perhaps I shall leave till tonight to decide, let my mood to decide my tomorrow.

So, anyone going to any of this event? Do come and enjoy the fun and spread the goodness of it.

My Raya Holiday Celebration - Day 1

Hari Raya is a Day of Celebration for Muslim. Since Malaysia is a multi-racial country, of coz we have Public Holiday on the days too. It falls on 1st and 2nd October (Wednesday and Thursday), so I took Friday off too so tht I could enjoy my whole week off.

Literally my planning was to go to Melaka. However, my bf had stomache and didn't sleep the whole night and the day my sis going back to Singapore. So, my Melaka trip was to be postphoned/called off. My sis persuaded me to accompany her to 1Utama to do some shopping. okay, it's her intention to shopping and mine was just to ACCOMPANY her only(which means I window shop).

My sis loves accessories, she was told that there is a good discount till October 15 at Celtic, so, of coz, that's our first stop. These accesorries really have good persuasion although they don't speak. They look persuasive! AND don't forget, it has good discount. So, which gal don't feel tempted?

So, I ended up buying the below items.

1. Butterfly Choker (I've always wanted a choker).

2. Amethyst Pendant (I like purple colour).

3. Earring.

4. Dog bone-shaped necklace (look closely, it looks like a dog bone).

5. Lastly, a combination bracelet (I say combination coz it has dolphin, sea-shell, turtle, singlet, music-cord).

Total damage = RM 256.00

Sigh... Regretted to have followed my sis to ~~window~~ shopping.

But if you look closely, some which I've bought have some animal design like the turtle, dog-bone, butterfly. =). So, at least it's not too bad since I like it anything which have the animal design.

Btw, we spent bout an hour(or more?) in the shop. So, lesson learnt. If plan to window shop, do not stay such a long time in a shop specially if it's a window shopping with sis.

Last but not least, Happy Hari Raya for those whom celebrates Raya. =)

So, what do you think about this? You gonna start training your dogs or cats with such cool skill now huh? My furkid will have a long way to learn this.

Updated : All About My Eyes - My Lasik Eye Experience

Having wearing glasses for... Let me count, 1,2,3,4,5,... Oh no 12 long years since 10 years old (Standard 4) till my working life, I'm finally free of glasses(hopefully forever).

I remembered when I was 10 years old in SRJK (C) Convent Datuk Keramat, the teacher was doing the eye test for us whereby we close 1 eye, and given the BIg "E" card, I can't really see well. I guessed I can only view the 1st 3 rows. I've always sit at the first row in class and I know that my eye sight is not so good(I'm short actually), I'm very vain so I kept quiet all the while not telling that I have bad vision (who likes to wear thick glasses anyway?!)

Blame it on inheritance(everyone in my family wear glasses except my younger sister), or blame it on my bad habit of reading comic books while lying on bed, sitting only 1 meter away from the television), I finally gave in and to wear spectacles. I'm always been teased as a duckling(argh...)

Growing up to be an teenager, I grow taller, my voice changed(I'm famous for crybaby, my voice was like a guy's voice), my body proportion changed, my eye sight power INCREASED too! Each year it increases about 50-100.

Then, I started wearing toric lens(yeah, I have high astig too) when I was Form 2(14 years old) till this year. There's pros and cons of wearing contact lens though. Let's see.

Pros:
- You look prettier (VERY IMPORTANT point)
- You don't need to worry when you get out from a cold place to a warm place(foggy glasses)
- You don't need to worry to wipe your glasses due to stains or dust
- You don't need to worry you have to push up your glasses when you sweat(your glasses slide down)

Cons:
- When there's dust gets into your eyes, it's irritating and you'll have red teary eyes
- Always have to remember to take off your contact lens before you go for your beaty sleep
- If wear contact lens for too long hours, you'll get super dry eyes
- You can't really wear contact lens when you go snorkeling( my recent experience when I went to Redang Island, even without wearing contact lens, the sea water really irritates my eyes, can't imagine if I wear contact lens that time)
- You'll look ugly when going snorkeling - coz you have to wear glasses
- If you wear those permanant lens which change only 1 year once, and you accidentally drop a side, there you go, gotta splurge to buy the other side.
- Maintenance, maintenance, maintenance, you gotta be very hygienic when comes to contact lens(Remember that you only have 1 pair of eyes, you wouldn't want any cause to destroy it)

My sister have done her eye lasik this year and she told me the pros of it. It really hit me fast with her facts so I did mine as well. With my friend's recommendation that Optimax is good(he did it there too), So, i did mine there.

Right - Short sighted: 800, Astig: 225
Left- Short sighted: 700, Astig: 175

As per checked by the optemetrist there, I'm kinda surpise with my finding.

Left- Short sighted: 650, Astig: 175

Hmmp...That's really high. my friends and colleagues are always surpise that I have such high power when they first know.

I layed off my contact lens for 3 weeks before the actual day of the surgery(sounds serious huh?) I kinda freaked out when I watch this Youtube video and I didn't really sleep well few days before the actual day.

*Warning : You not watch if you have a weak heart.

So, here it goes, on the day of 14th August 2008, I said Bye-bye to my glasses of many years.

Everyone has to wear these clothing before entering the lasik room. I went through the eye scan, checking, to a room to take photo of my eyes, and finally the lasik itself.

Patients are given the medical kit which consist of antibiotic drops, eye-drops(disposible), eye-drops(bottled type), pain killer, eye-shield, celephone tape(used to safe-guard the eye shield on the eyes during sleep).

The whole lasik eye procedure was so fast, it took only about 5-10 minutes for both eyes. But before that, I'm given those eye-drops to dillate the pupil. During the surgery, they uses this very sticky tape to open up your eyes, and they drops the medicine(forgotten what is it called) to numb the eyes, then they uses the equipment inserted to the side of the eye lids to open up your eyes(it's to make sure you can't blink your eyes). It's really scarry lying on the surgery bed with you're totally awaken, but trust me, there's no pain at all though you may feel it.

I undergo the 1st machine which it shoots the laser beam to open up the flap. Then, I was taken to the 2nd room on the 2nd machine which does the job(correcting your power). The doctor told me to look at the red light at the laser machine and told me not to move, but honestly I can't even feel that I had move coz as far as I can remember, I kinda hardened my body like a stone. Hm...maybe the machine detects nano movement.

I think with my power, for wach eye was about a minute+, I can hear the machine saying how many percent done. You know, when it reaches 90%, you will feel extra anxious and excited coz it's almost over( I kept saying to myself:"Bye-bye glasses.").

After the lasik eyes, my vision was blur(don't expect that I can see 100% immediately as it takes time to recover as well). Patients are required to wear sunglasses to protect the eyes when exposed to sun light.

The next follow-up day after the eye lasik to check if the eye flaps are closed or sealed properly, not wrinkled.

It's been a month now and I went through my 3rd follow-up last week. I'm very happy that I no longer have short sighted, only about 50 astig on the left eye and 75 on my right eye. The optemetrist say that it takes about 4-5 months for it to be totally stabalize due to my high power earlier on.

I finally felt that I'm no longer an ugly duckling and became a swan (WAHAHAHAAH). I finally have my freedom from my glasses. For those whom has poor eye sights, perhaps you could consider to opt for eye lasik and as those whom are bleesed with perfect and healthy eyes, do take good care of it!

Now I'm proud of my big black round eyes.

Oh..another thing, last but not least, I would really like to thank my doctor a good job on my eyes and he is good looking too. =p .

Updates : I would also want to say a BIG "THANK YOU" to my dear sis for encouraging me for doing the eye lasik. (~~I'm kinda force to write this~~..wahhaha..nolaz..it's sincere from my heart, can't you feel it?)

Suki My Soukei Terrier

This little black furball joined as part of family 2 1/2 years back. She never fails to worked her way into our heart to cheer us up always. This little black furball have grown into beautiful, cute silky terrier. She's no longer whole black, she have mix of brown, silver, grey and black. interesting huh?

I can't really manage with her long coat, so, I always groom her to 1.5inch ~~long~~ short only.

Note : There's 2 meaning of Soukei.

Firstly, Suki is my Furkid's english name, so, Soukei is her Chinese name.

Secondly, I call her Soukei Terrier coz she's a little off from Silky Terrier Standard with her droopy ears and short coat. (Damn..the pet shop didn't tell us that her ear needs to be shaved when she's a puppy in order to erect). So, she looks so special to me, it's like one and only.

Craziest and Proudest Thing I've Done for My Furkid

I believe everyone has their crazist or proudest thing that he/she achieved or done in past years. How if I ask, what's the craziest or proudest thing you've done for your beloved pet? Scratching your head? or maybe you've way too many to mention.

For me, having my first furkid meant a lot to me which I would like and will do many things for her. But, so far, one of the proudest thing I've done for her is ~~building~~ sewing her a house. Yes, I meant sewing.

I remember it was on 23rd October 2006, it was my semester break then. There was too much time wasted and something just strike my mind, to do/create something for my furkid. Since I do not work much part time job then, every cents count. Buying a nice warm, comfy bed for pet cost a lot. So, I decided to sew her one.

Not wasting anymore time, I purchased the items next day and started working on it. It wasn't much of items coz I've already have some at home. Anyway, items for her house below.

1. Foldable mattress
2. Cloth
3. Lace for design
4. Sponge
5. Pillows
6. Teddy Bears
7. IKEA christmas light

I spent 1 1/2 day to complete her house and it was complete satisfaction. I just can't wait to see her having a tight sleep in there.

Star Light Star Bright, don't worry, Suki's house does have light as well and she'll have Christmas mood always.

Of coz when I intro Suki to her house, she take precaution steps. She doesn't just run in and sleep. She sniff around and slowly walk in to investigate. Once she feel comfortable, there she goes, my sleeping princess. I felt so proud!

It is quite easy to sew a house for your lovely furkid, all it takes is a little creativity and patience. You'll feel the satisfaction when you see your furkid goes in and sleep daily. Enjoy building one too!~

Oh No! What to Do?

"Oh no! What to do?!"... These are common sentence used by most of new pet owners when their pet is not well. Of course, I've been through the situation as well as many of you too.

As you know, I've been reading those pet megazine and really, there are enormous useful information in it which I would really like to share and help. So, let's see here.

A piece of advise from me, always do bring your pet for their vaccination or de-worm on time. On the due date of the earlier vaccine, the medicine/vaccine might have worn off and your pet are exposed to many types of viruses which could cause fatal.

Diarrhoea
A condition that is common in puppies and kittens especially so during the first few days when a puppy or kitten arrives due to a change of environment and stress. So, if the diarrhoea does not eprsist for more than a few hours, there is no cause for worry unless your pet shows other signs of illness.

What to do?
Do not feed your petn for puppies and kittens for at least 6 hours. After 12 hours, gradually begin feeding bland, easily digestible foods, such as cooked chicken and rice. provide constant access to water.

See the vet!
Should you notice blood in your pet's stools or other accompanying distresses such as vomiting lethargy, bring to the veterinarian immediately.

Vomiting
Occasional vomiting is not an unusual condition for puppies and kittens.They could have eaten too fast, swallowed something they shouldn't have, or picked up a short-lasting illness.

What to do?
Withold food and water for about 4-6 hours. If you feed your pet too soon after vomiting episode, it may just vomit again. After 6-10 hours, being feeding bland food gradually. If your puppy or kitten is on medication, ask your veteranian if that could be the source of vomiting.

See the vet!
When the vomit is black and bloody, when there is acoompanying bloody stools or if the vomiting persists and your pet appears lethargic.

Coughing
Dogs cough for a variety of reasons, some of which could be serious in themselves and others, which could be signs of an underlying problem. Coughing that sounds like gagging could mean that something is caught at your puppy's throat. Coughing could also be a sign of an upper respiratory infection in puppies and kittens.

What to do
Gently open your pet's mouth and check for foreign objects. If possible, fish it our of the mouth. Encourage your puppy to drink more water.

See the vet!
Whent he coughing or gagging is persistent, or when you notice that your puppy has difficulty breathing or if the gums appear blue. If your puppy has been boarded recently, then it could be a case of kennel cough.

Ear mites
If you notice that your puppy or kitten is scratching its ears or shaking its head regularly, then there could be a possibility of an ear mite infection. You might notice a brown or black discharge and possibly an offensive smell.

What to do?
If the problem is caught early enough, then home treatment might be useful. As your vet for a good ear-cleaning solution that also contains a compound to kill mites. Take care when cleaning your pet's ears. Use a cotton ball instead of a bud and only clean parts where you can see.

If the ears are too badly infected and full of discharge, then bring to the veterinarian immediately.

Worms
Puppies and kittens are born with intestinal worms. if your young pet has an obvious swollen belly, suffers weight loss and has a dull coat, then it could be suffering from worms.

What to do?
Your pet can also get worms from coming contact with the faeces of other animals or by eating fleas snd small prey, so ensure that you keep a close eye on your pet. Use only prescription wormers as recommended by your veterinian.

When you first bring a puppy or kitten home, do a llow the veterinarian to do a de-worming precess. Subsequently, when you notice a possible re-infestination, bring a stool sample to your veterinarian for a confirmation and routinely use a de-worming medicine.

For some viruses, there aren't any treatments available so preventation isz always better than cure. Your vet will probably vaccinate your puppy or kitten at between eight to 12 weeks of age as it has been found that their immunity levels are to decrease or disappear altogether during the time.

Canine Distemper (hard pad) : A virus that affects the nervous and immune systems. I is transmitted through air and is often fatal.

Canine Parvovirus (parvo) : A virus that affect the intestines and bowels and is transmitted through contact with infected faeces.

Canine Parainfluenza (kennel cough) : A highly contagious disease that results from dog living in close quarters, such as kennel.

Leptospirosis : A serious bacterial disease that is extremely contagious and is transmitted via any fluid dischage from an infected animal.

For kittens
Feline panleukopenia (FPV) : Also known as Feline Distemper, the virus infects intestinal tracts and breaks down the body's defenses. A fstal disease, it may cause high fever, uncontrollable vomiting, diarrhoea and sudden death.

Feline Leukaemia Virus (FeLV) : A contagious and deadly virus that can be transmitted through bodily fluids. Vaccination for this virus should depend on cat's age and its risk of exposure.

Rhinotracheitis (Herpes) : This is severe viral disease which affects the respiratory system, It also affects the reproductive tract and can cause complications during pregnancy.

Calicivirus (cat flu) : A severe viral disease which causes upper respiratory symptoms and oral ulcers. Although it may seem like just another bad cold, it can be fatal to cats.

Hey guys together with your 4-legged friend, the Dogathon event which I have much anticipate is back! This event have actually kickstart since 1997 and to be held yearly which is to address the awareness of stray dogs. In this event, the owner and the furkid will need to run/walk for 2.5km.

I just can't wait for the following date as I have much enjoyed Dogathon last year. Usually, my furkid wouldn't want to run nor jog, she'll just hardened her body and sit still at 1 place. To my surprise, on the Dogathon 2007 she just wouldn't stop running and I couldn't catch up with her.

I'm writing this in advance and set it to be auto publish. If you're reading this today as in 12th July 2008 at 7.00am Malaysian time, I'm already on my way to Redang Island, Malaysia (check this place out on google, it's a nice island) and Suki is already at Puppy's Cottage for boarding while I'm away, hope she's alright there. I'll take lotsa nice photos and snap some fishes photos if possible(I do not have a waterproof camera anyway, anyone would like to sponsor?). I'll talk more bout Redang Island when I'm back as this will be my first time there and I can't comment much yet.

Malaysia Dog Olympic Day 2008

Yippie! My furkid finally looks girlish today, her fur/coat/fringe are just long enough for me to tye up so it won't block her view.

Last weekend I attended the Malaysia Dog Olympic Day 2008 held at Central Park, Banadar Utama, Malaysia organized by puppy.com.my and sponsored by Purina. This is the time where we can see lotsa different breed of dogs, dog clubs, and pet lovers gathered together for the same passion - Love of their dog.

It started rizzling when we reached there so we went for McD Breakfast. *yum yum*.

They have a few competition for the participants, those who scored the highest will win the champion. For those who did not participate in the Olympic, they could join the mini games which is quite interesting such as Dog Simon Say. I wanted to participate this together with my furkid however it seems like she wasn't that well and active that day. So, i just brought her there to socialize with other furkid and also to let her enjoy her walk while my eye gets the feast (don't misunderstood, it's just feast by looking all the doggies, they're all equavalent adorable).

Of coz, everytime there's a dog event there'll be performance by the Police K9 which is interesting and entertaining. The crowd gathered beside waiting enthusiastly for this. The K9 did jump into a hoop with fire(how daring they are! I don't even dare too), they'll attack/bite the "suspect" until the trainer says to let go, else, they would not let go even if u stand and swing, the dog's jaw will still be biting it and swing in the air. Their nose sense are so powerful that even the drugs are in a suitcase they're able to sniff it out as well. Just wondering, are those those actually addicted to these drugs? Coz they've been trained to sniff out these things. I've taken a few videos but to be uploaded soon. Stay tune!

Thre's this Caucasian breed dog imported from Russia for RM9k which caught many attention of the dog lovers there. It is only 7 months olsd and the size is huge, if I do not recall wrongly it's size is slightly bigger than an adult German Shephard.

I walked around in the park and this dog caught my attention, he was really obedient that his owner called him to sit still, he'll sit nd stay at the same place to allow us to take his picture. And not to forget, he has very nice fluffy fur.

We really enjoyed this type of events as we get to socialize around and could exchange soem interesting stories and also knowlegeable information. At the end of the day, we're both so tired but I still gotta bath her and she gets to relax with my massage during the bath (but she doesn't like to take bath). Looking forward for this next event!

Company Trip 08 - A' Famosa

I recently went for a company trip to A' Famosa. For those whom are not from Malaysia, A' Famosa is located in Melaka, Malaysia. This is quite a famous tourist place as well. It's really big there, somehow seems like a city by itself.

We stayed in this villa which is kinda nice, it has this swimming pool at the backyard as well. But we gals did not go to our pool coz ours are kinda dirty. As for the guys, they really did enjoy swimming n chilling in the pool and do all their "stuns".

We 12 girls in a villa, I wonder where is another gal that time.

Oh, I managed to capture this. The guy's place. They can chuck as many things as possible on the table.

They have Safari there as well but we did not go for that as our package does not include that and due to the time constraint as well. A'Famosa also have this small town called Cowboy Town which is quite famous.

Of course during the trip, I din miss out the chance to take a picture with 1 of the animal, the Horse. Felt that it's quite pitiful as well cause whenever there's a bus around, the horse feel kinda streesed out and it has to carry a crate behind.

There are many different type of breeds of horse performing different task. Horses life span is about 25~30 years. However, there is 1 horse call "Old Billy", a horse which lived in the 19th century, lived up to 62 years. That's double the life span of a normal horse. Pregnancy for horse lasts for approximately 335-340 days and usually results in one foal.

I found some terminology from Wikipedia.The following terminology is used to describe horses of various ages:

Foal: a horse of either sex less than one year old. A nursing foal is sometimes called a suckling and a foal that has been weaned is called a weanling. Most domesticated foals are weaned at 4-6 months of age.

Yearling: a horse of either sex that is between one and two years old.

Colt: a male horse under the age of four. A common terminology error is to call any young horse a colt, when the term actually only refers to young male horses.

Filly: a female horse under the age of four.

Mare: a female horse four years old and older.

Stallion: a non-castrated male horse four years old and older. Some people, particularly in the UK, refer to a stallion as a "horse." A Ridgling or "Rig" is a stallion which has an undescended testicle. If both testicles are not descended, the horse may appear to be a gelding, but will still behave like a stallion.

Gelding: a castrated male horse of any age, though for convenience sake, many people also refer to a young gelding under the age of four as a "colt."

Back to the topic, there is also a baby elephant which tourist can pay to take a photo together. But this baby elephant is being chained-up for safety of the tourist.

During this company trip of coz we have the team building activities, it was kinda fun and we have some free and easy time to play at the water world where we can see our male colleagues go wild. =p. Then at night I was 1 of the emcee for the dinner, I guess I'm the worst of all.

Overall, all of us had a great time.

Trip to Singapore - Night Safari and Sentosa Island's Penguin Lagoon

Wow... time flies. Not at normal speed but seems like with a speed of light for me. I just realize that I have not blog for 2 weeks since my last update.

Last weekend, I was at singapore for 3 days 2 nights. First night was with my sister whom is happily working there and second night i joined my friends who reached there really late for a 2 days 1 night trip as if Singapore is right beside Selangor just like Negeri Sembilan. I guess the trip almost turn up as a 1 day trip for them.

I took a coach there all by myself(omg, this is my first time travelling to a place alone, felt quite exciting though). of coz, I bought the single seat coz I can move around easily and still get to sit at the corner. These are some of the pictures taken in the coach with breakfast provided.

Once reached Singapore, my sis picked me up from the bus drop off point and we straight head for lunch and shopping. First stop was this Grman restaurant in Vivo City. They have really nice sausages...*yum yum* delicious! Next was this dark chocolate milkshake from Godiva.

After some shopping then we head back to the condominium. I saw some owners walk their dog in the condo compound..how nice! we don't get to do that here as many condos doesn't allow.

I've recently cut and dyed my hair and some people say I looks like a mouse or squirrel. I totally looks more like I'm from a rodent family when I wore these Disney mouse hat.

Oh wait, where are the animals? I dun mean my friends ok?(no worries, they won't get offended, they'll just come straight and kill me). Of coz i dun leave out animals in my trip. I visited the Night Safari and Sentosa Island Penguin Lagoon.

During the performances by the pink penguins, the emcee have invited some volunteery visitors to come upfront. they get to pet the dolphin and there's this Mexico guy whom is really lucky, he get to be kissed by the pink dolphin. Really envy about that coz I wasn't the chosen one.

But, you could still pay some amount of money to take a photo together with the dolphin.

Help Save the Moon Bear

I haven't been able to blog lately due to the faulty router and I don't understand why that my laptop is unable to connect to the Broadband with the direct connection to the modem. Argh..ok. I'll stop the whining. I'm currently using my PC to connect to the Internet now.

My favourite channel is always 553 and 556 on ASTRO. If you have ASTRO, you'll know what channel is that. For thsoe who doesn't, 553 is National Geographic and 556 is Animal Planet. These are my all time favourite channel where I can watch whole day long.

Friday night, I was at home and watching Animal Planet, and I stumble across the movie called ' Moon Bears : Journey to Freedom ' . So, before we began, if I say the word 'BEAR', what came across your mind first?

Okay, let me be more precise of the word now, I say 'MOON BEAR' , what do you think of now? Bear on moon?

This is Moon Bear. They are actually Asiatic Black Bear, however they are also known as Moon Bear due to the golden crescent across their chests. This is one of the Moon Bear named Jasper as he is today.

Okay, back to reality check. The above picture look so cutesy isn't it? and looks like he have been enjoying his life. You wouldn't know what they have been through before.

Imagine this, let's say you're 6 feet tall and 3 feet wide, but u're crushed in a 6.5 feet tall and 3.5 feet wide wired cages for about 2 decades. What do you feel? Imagine with this situation and you're often starved. Imagine there's a metal catheter being inserted to your body without sterialization and any pain killers given. Are these bearable? These are the conditioned for most of the farm bears.

As many as 9000 bears in China alone are kept in the tiny wired cages to prevent their movement to 'milked' for their bile. The catheter were inserted into the gall bladder abd they will be m'milked' for their bile. Half the amount of bears are said to die during the insertion of the catheter. Those that survive suffer from tumours, infections from open wounds, abscesses and hernias. The bile taken from the gall bladders of the living bears is used in Chinese traditional medicine for the treatment of ailments including stomach and digestive disorders and kidney problems.

Many farmers claim that a new catheter-free, free-drip method of bile extraction involving the creation of a permanent hole in the abdomen is painless for the bears and that the industry, therefore, is now “humane”. The latest batch of tormented, disfigured bears provides further proof that the trade is as brutal as ever.

It is said that 80% of the saved Moon Bears are disabled. While watching this movie, it is really heart wrenching, my nose felt sour , but I just couldn't cry out. I could imagine these pain are so unbarable. If we need something from them, how could we treat them in such inhumane way? The technology are so good these days and many types of medicine have been invented to cure sickness without using the bear bile. There are many researches been done and about 45 or 54 types of other items could replace the bile such as Jasmine plant. So, why do we still need bear bile?

The helper in Animal Asia said that although the saved bears have gone through this, they are such a forgiving animal. If we human were to be treated this way and were freed 1 days, I guess we'll be taking revenge to get the person suffers the same for life.

These saved bears could not be released back to the wild due to that they have been very dependant on human and they can't survive by themself in the wild.

Please, help spread this to your friends to bring the awareness to them. Let's unite with one voice and stop the suffering of these Moon Bears. Also, please to help to sign the petition. These are the least that we could do. Let's pray and hope that all of them were to be rescued and have a good health.

Dog Tricks

It's really amazing, and urh... Okay, I recently watched a youtube show and I really envy the guy who have such an obedient dog and able to perform 40 tricks. oh what? 40 tricks?!!! I really hope my dog could perform that much but I dun wanna stress her out. I'll slowly teach and guide her.

Suki currently knows Sit, Stay, Come, Down, Bang (act dead), Roll, Turn, Stand (with 4 legs on floor), Hand, Another Hand, Touch. So, I consider she have learnt about 11 tricks? Currently she's in a training for Back. But she's only able to perform these tricks with 2 condition.

Dogs Do the Darnedest Things

There is those moments that Suki does the funniest and most entertaining things that I somehow wonder what is she trying to say or trying to express. Suki always bite her teddy cow's head till she falls asleep while the the teddy cow head is still in her mouth. Whenever she sees that teddy cow, she'll need to bite it. Soemtimes she'll release her frustration by biting and swinging the teddy cow. But if I hide her teddy cow, she'll sniff and run the whole house for it.

For me, having a furkid is a no regret things. They always kept you accompany and all they wants from you is just a little more love and care. Suki filled and light up my life, how bout yours?

Just pay a little more attention to them and you'll understand them better. Here I found some good explaination which might have answered your queries all these while about your furkid.

Q: Why does my dog like to burrow under the covers?

A: “Dogs are denning animals,” explains Kellyann Conway, treasurer of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and co-founder of PetsIncredible, a media production company that develops pet-related media. In the same way that humans like to fluff up their pillows before settling in for the night, she says, some dogs like to create comfy beds and hide under clothes and sheets to make themselves feel safe, warm and comfortable. All breeds may do this, but terriers, hounds and huskies are more predisposed to burrowing than others.

There’s no downside or risk to letting your dog burrow, unless you don’t want dog hair under the covers. A separate dog bed might be handy to keep the hair out of yours. An additional bonus of your dog having the instinct to burrow is that it can make crate training easier, since being in a crate can mimic that denlike environment.

Q: Why does my dog like to turn in three circles, looking for just the right spot, before she pees?

A: There are at least two thoughts on why dogs circle before defecating or urinating, says Tony Kremer, a veterinarian and dog behavior expert who runs a Web site, DrTony.com. One reason, Kremer says, is to “scan the terrain for predators so they don’t get ‘caught with their pants down.’” Dogs also use their keen sense of smell to know who was there before. “They may be [homing] in on just the right spot to mark with their scent,” he adds. Q: It’s the ultimate stereotype about dogs gone wild: They dig. They dig up your flower beds. They dig under your fence. They dig to bury bones. Why?

Q: Why do dogs chase their tails?

Q: My dog has the grossest habit: She likes to eat poop. Why would she do this?

A: No one really knows why dogs engage in coprophagia (the fancy term for poop-eating). Some people think it indicates an enzyme is lacking in dogs’ diets. Others think it stems from a maternal instinct to clean up the den.

It is gross, yes, but it is also not a healthy habit. If your dog is eating the poop from other dogs, it could be worse than unhealthy — it could be dangerous. What’s the easy fix? Clean up after your dog whenever she goes and don’t let her near other dogs’ droppings. Adding meat tenderizer or Tabasco sauce to dog food may make your dog’s poop less appetizing to her.

Q: My dog performs this hilarious duck walk, basically scooting her butt along the ground. What’s up with that?

A: While not as gross as coprophagia, this is a behavior that isn’t all that funny when you know what’s behind it. (Pardon the pun.) Dogs have anal glands — also called anal sacs — on each side of the anus. They fill with foul-smelling liquid that is normally expressed when the dog defecates, but sometimes they do not express naturally. When your dog scoots across the carpet, she’s trying to do this on her own.

Take your dog to the vet and have her anal glands expressed. If you ignore this problem, the glands may become impacted, which can cause an infection and serious discomfort for your dog — plus, your carpet will get really dirty.

We're not talking about Americans with curly hair here, it's about a breed of cat which is called American Curl. It is still rare nowadays and I've just got to know bout it after reading my Clubpets megazine. So, not wasting anymore time, I googled it as well.

It's all started in a sunny day in June 1981, two uniquely curled ear stray kittens wandered up to the door step of Ruga family in Lakewood, California. Joe Ruga decided not to feed the skinny kittens, however his wife, Grace fed the kittens. The kittens were both longhaired, one black and the other black and white. The family named them Shulamith and Panda respectively, but Panda disappeared several weeks later, making Shulamith the foundation female of the American Curl breed. Hm...you must be thinking Shilamith is a real lucky cat! A stray whom became a world standard.

The American Curl is a medium sized cat (5-10 lbs), and does not reach maturity until 2-3 years of age. They are strong and healthy, remarkably free of the genetic defects that affect many purebred cats.

American Curl kittens are born with straight ears, which begin to curl within ten days. After four months, their ears will not curl any longer, and should be hard and stiff to the touch. A pet quality American Curl may have almost straight ears, but showcats must have ears that curl in an arc between 90 and 180 degrees. A greater angle is preferable, but cats will be disqualified if their ears touch the back of their skulls.

Oh yes, I am the host for Purina One 30-Day Performance Challenge - Season 2 Final. It was kinda fun but of coz, it's nervous for me as well as this is my first time doing a video shooting.

Okay, some of you may say - "Ras wha?" Yes, it's Rastafarian, it's a type of dog breed. So, you've not seen this breed before and wonder how it looks like... Do imagine this, a walking brown mop. Still couldn't imagine? Have a look with your own eyes!

This look like a rug, if it's infront of door step or toilet, you might be rubbing your feet against it.

I guess if you see this any where, you might feel disgusted at first but will go closer and take a look.

Okay, if you see this around, you might be really terrified or freaked out and thinking what on earth is this creature.

You might be thinking what mop this is if it's not moving, or maybe it's a witch broom if you see this moving.

I got to know about this breed from a forward mail and google it ! Tt seems like when it's still a puppy, the fur/coat doesn't look like this. Eventually as they grow older, it kinda "dreadlock" itself.

i forward the mail to my fellow colleagues and it seems like this breed is scarry and somehow not many people can tolerate/handle it. As for me, I think it's quite cool but i'll just cut the fur short, even my Suki's fur is always short. I couldn't imagine how am I suppose to groom him/her. Second thought, I guess I'll have to shave it all then! But I wonder how's the natural characteristic of this dog like, have you come across this breed before?

Anyhow, my personal opinion is that it looks like he/she knows how to rap! No kidding, doesn't Rastafarian looks like a cool rapper?

Bad Party Foods for Dogs

I've read my Clubpet's megazine and I found this article very informative and would like to share with all pet lovers here. And even if you are not a pet lover, I guess it increases your knoeledge too.

Below is the list of dog food which is BAD for your furkid.

1. Alcohol
Impact : Leads to disorientation, sickness, urination problems, coma and even death.

2. Toxic Chocolate
Most toxic to the least : Cocoa and cooking chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, dark chocolate, milk chocolate
Why : Chocolate contains theobromine, a cardiac stimulant and a diuretic(a substance that removes water from body by promoting urine formation and the loss of salt)
Impact : Increase dog's heart rate to irregularity or seizures, stimulated to excitement and hyperactivity, passing large volume of urine and increase of thirst, vomiting and diarrhoea, signs of sickness may not be seen for several hours, with death following within 24 hours.

3. Cooked bones
Risk : splinters get stuck in teeth, caught in the throat, rupturing the stomach lining or intestinal tract
Impact : Pale or blue gums, heavy gasping, pawing at face, slow and shallow breathing, unconsciousness with dilated pupils.

4. Tobacco products
Why : Chewing of tobacco can prove fatal to dogs.
Impact : Signs of nicotine poisoning can appear within an hour, includes hyperactivity, salivation, panting, vomiting, diarrhoea.
Advanced signs : muscle weakness, twitching, collapse, coma, increased of heart rate, cardiac arrest.

5. Out of harm's way
Reminder : Remind guests not to feed your pet with food scraps, chocolates or any party food.

*Note : Always prepare a list of emergency phone numbers and hospital addresses.

If you've notice your pet acting strangely, it may mean that it has digested something toxic and please do send it to vet immediately!

Happenings of Pet Malaysia 2008

Hmm..ok, I know it's a little late to talk about the post events of Pet Malaysia Day 2008 now, but again, I was busy with other stuff earlier on.

I remembered I couldn't really sleep well the night before. As usual, I'm just over excited about it and din get to have a good night sleep, and yeah... I woke up very early too! I'm just used to waking up early everyday now.

So, before going to the event, manage to snap a picture of myself first without my furkid. All ready up to go to the event!

Once we reach and I left Suki on a table, hmm...being taken advantaged by the other furkid.

Suki had a really bad habit that she kind of marks her terrotory everytime she goes out. So, got to bring her to the poo and pee area real fast before she starts marking the marks in the wrong area. She will normally sniff around first then takes a real long time before letting herself doing her small business at the area.

Before we go into the exhibition hall, there are many dogs "hanging out" just outside the hall. and I caught one of it in the act. Pleasuring him/her self. hm...you must be thinking who and what kinda act is that. It's kinda cleaning him/herself up, maybe it has just finish it's business as well.It's just a normal act which dogs does.

When we head in the exhibition hall, we'll need to have a chop at our hands first to show that you made the payments for the entrance.

Before roaming around the area, it is a must for me to snap a nice picture of both of us first(before Suki looks tired and messy)!

Argh... such a disaster of the day. Suki poo-ed in the exhibition hall! It's the slimy type and as a responsible owner, of course I cleaned it up as well although it took me quite some time.

I find these cruel. Each of the fish is put into a small plastic bag with so little of water.. The water is about half or 3/4 of the plastic only. It doesn't cover the fish fully.

Suki: Hm...what on earth is this creature? It has a leash as well and it doesn't look like my kind.

I signup for Petster megazine at their booth. I've always wanted to have some pets mefazine and now I have it. After paying RM20.00 for a year of subscription, I found out that it's actually a free copy of megazine which they distribute 20,000 copies every month. What a foolish me! But nevermind, at least I get to have these deliverred to my door step every month and not need to rush to the shops or vets to get a copy.

I bought some pets megazines from SPCA as well. it's only RM10.00 for 3 different issue. Although it's old issues, the megazine is quite thick and I guess it should be informative as well.

Dog : Whatcha looking at? Jealous that I look better than you? Dare to fight me then!

Dog : Argh... I lost to Suki!

After a few hours in the exhibition hall, it's time to head back. Suki was dead tired in the journey back home.

I'm Moved

I found these videos while I was surfing some Youtube videos quite some time ago and I saved it as my favourites. After watching these videos, I'm really moved.

Many animals/pets are being euthanized every year. You just can't imagine the huge amount of it. You could say it's cruel, but sometimes, there are nothing much you could do but forced to put them to sleep as the adoption rate is too low and the amount of animals being abondened or strays are just too high. Some even have sickness and the fees is just unbearable as not many people could afford it.

I have known a lady whom I shall say is quite rich, she told me that she adopted the dog which wasn't that healthy. Tt has some skin problem and the medical fees for it is considerred quite high though. She knew that not many people will take the chances so she decided to adopt it. That's really so kind and considerate of her. She have actually adopted 2-3 dogs and foster some of it as well.

So, I'd really hoped that people will be kind hearted like her. If it wasn't her to adopt the dog, it might have been put to sleep cause not many shelters could afford that.

Dying to be Rescued

What the H***!!! I know... You just can't not to say that upon seeing pictures like this. Horses are suppose be a strong, tough , muscular animal, but what do we see here? It is really heart wrenched seeing images like this.

These horse are Melinsung ranch located 20 mins South of Kota Kinabalu... As reported from SPCA website, tourist are suppose to sign up for some activities(what??!!!does the owner still wants the horses t ork at such condition?!!!!!), instead what they found have left them sickened. In the report of 17th January, 2008, the owner is trying to sell of the meat. OMG, how the H*** could a person do that to such an innocent animal.

I'm sure that the horses are used for gaining some income such as horse riding activities and so on, is this what this horses should get in return? Even if the cost of buying and breeding them have not been coverred or even if it's coverred, there's no way a man should treat their pets/animals like this. This is just way too much!

I am glad that the tourist had actually reported his cause if they don't, there might not be any action taken at all. The authorities might have not realize this. I only know about this when I visited the SPCA website. If you would like to take action or voice up, you could write to the authorities as stated in he SPCA websites.

I really couldn't imagine what would the tourist think of Malaysia when they see such thing happens, I believe these images will stay in their memory as long as they live, the stories will spread as long as a man can talk or type nowadays.

Emeryn : I din know about this and I fed Suki with lotsa Chocolates last time! But after readong about chocolate kills dog some where, I stopped and pray hard that nothing happens to my Furkid.

Nescafe Kickstart Competition

At work, I received several call from unknown number. I'd have to reject and put the call to silence mode as was still on a call with customers. I have a strong feelings... It must be the call from Nescafe Kickstart. I wanted to call back when the customer call has ended...but, where's the number??!!!! Oh gosh..thankfully, they called me again. There is a task whereby I will need to create a video to convince the judges. Over the few days, had been thinking of the ideas,flow,music and the most important, the FEEL of it. So much of planning!

And finally, the shooting starts...Interviewing some people to get their opinions of pet sitting services. It's really fun during the process, I shall say I've learn something new as well!

A day to remember. It's my first time working as volunteer. It's an event hosted by puppy.com.my and sponsored by Purina One!

Olympic Dog Day

It's finally the day! Suki's BIG DAY! No, I'm not referring that it's her birthday, and no, she's not the Olympic Dog winner. She's the..... *TADA* winner of the Purina One 30 days Challenge!!!woohoo~~~ I wasn't really able to accept the fact that she have won... and have won the cash for me..and also a year of Purina One!!!!!

On the morning, we'll have to go there and register, then wait for the launching of the product, the speech, they and also we were needed to go up the stage to give our own speech.
You could view the video for my speech...but I was quite nervous at the time of point, and I was the last one to give the speech.

Purinaone 30 Days Challenge

Hm... I got to know this challenge on Newspaper if not mistaken. So, I submitted Suki's photo together with her problems to the website. I anxiously waited for the results everyday. And finally it has come to 20th April 2007, the announcement of finalist day. The result will actually be aired on mixfm station radio at 7:00am - 8:00am. I was on vacation in Penang and I've purposely wake up earlier to find the channel(though I slept late that night). But OMG!!!! It's already passed 8:00am and I still wasn't able to find the tune(what's wrong with my handphone?!)I was kinda disappointed and given up hope. But, later in the evening, to my surprise, I received the call from Purina One regarding the delivery of Dog food(Okay, finalist(dogs of coZ) are suppose to try the dog food for a month and see what's the result after that). Wow... I was really really happy at that moment, it's undescribable. I've joined a few contest(not doggie contest), I have never really get into finalist before(except once, I'm the winner and I din get the prize, they did not deliver to me!!!!)Okay, cut the crap...

Once I've got he Purina One dog food, I started gradually feeding Suki. But, seems like she's a smart dog. I mixed her old dog food and Purina One. She managed to sort and wallup Purina One, leaving the old dog food there. Seems like I do not need to gradually change her dog food.

For the next 4 weeks, I've been observing, taking photos and doing report about her to submit to the website. She have quite a tremendous difference after eating Purina One. The little furkid is growing... just look at her..Isn't she BIG all of sudden? Just look at her her pictures from puppy till now(not to sound like she's old now, she's only 1 year 9 mths, still considered as my puppy). Seems like she've change a lot. "Ugly puppy have finally grown into a cute dog". From black to shiny silver grey. Isn't that nice? aAaaahhhhh~ It's like seeing your own baby growing up.

First Start of the Journey

I've always like animals all this while, but somehow somewhat there's something which holds me back, i'm scared of them roaming around me(especially those active ones), licking me...urh....

But this day, 14th March 2006, I could say it's the day which changes me and a new start for my furkid - Suki, my first little doggie. She's actually for my sister... but it seems she's more attached to me now!

We started of from shops to shops, SS2, IKANO, Taman Tun, Kepong and so on. Up and down and for few days. Finally, we saw this cute little female puppy, seems active and somehow it got our attention. After some bargaining, we've made the correct choice by getting her!
